In July 2018, the U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) jointly awarded contracts to Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC to manage the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. The contract will begin on October 1, 2018.
The scope of the contracts includes management and operation of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory with four primary facilities in New York, Pennsylvania and Idaho. For over 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation’s submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and is comprised of over 7,500 engineers, scientists, technicians and support personnel.
